Have You Met The History Channel’s Foreign Sister?

May 19, 2009

Great channels run in the family for the History channel’s sister channel, History International. History International specializes in international historical documentaries. If you happened to catch an hour of Wednesday night programming on History International on DirecTV, you might find yourself watching one of the channel’s most popular shows: “The Naked Archaeologist”. The show is produced, directed, and hosted by Simcha Jacobovici, a recipient of two Emmy Awards. The footage is shot on location in Egypt, Israel, and Greece in order to show viewers some of the most amazing archaeological sites and finds the Middle East has to offer. Jacobovici keeps Biblical archeology lively with his upbeat and eccentric personality and his penchant for song and dance.

Through the examination of actual sites and artifacts, and by conversing with the best and brightest archaeologists, historians and scientists, Jacobovici finds the answers to questions such as, “Why is it so bad to be called a Philistine?”, “Was Jezebel really that sexy?”, “What do you do when you find a 2,000-year-old palace under your house?” and even, “Where do you stop for a good falafel when you’re on your way to find the real Mount Sinai?”

Another show you might want to check out that is currently airing on History International is “The Templar Code”. It centers around the medieval world’s most powerful secret society, the Knights Templar. Find out what historians now know about these Crusaders that were supposedly the keepers of an unimaginable Biblical treasure that could change the face of religion as we know it. Discover also the secrets behind their mysterious rituals, rites, training, and sudden downfall.  Another great channel in the DirecTV lineup.

Clooney Returns To ER To Say Goodbye

March 26, 2009

After nine years, the show that propelled George Clooney to stardom lured him back in for one last goodbye run– and I do mean last. Clooney as Dr. Doug Ross reappeared three episodes away from ER’s 15th and final season. The long-running hit NBC drama, set in the emergency ward of a Chicago hospital, hasn’t seen Clooney’s character for almost ten years.

As the storyline goes, he was transferred to the Washington State hospital in Seattle alongside his girlfriend-turned-wife, Carol Hathaway. We first met her when she was working at Chicago General as head nurse and was brought into the ER to be treated following a suicide attempt. Since his transfer to Washington, Dr. Ross has worked as an attending physician at the Seattle hospital. In order to write him back into the show, along with three other original cast members, the writers had to rely on a certain amount of coincidence.

During the last three episodes, Noah Wyle returns to play his character, Dr. John Carter, who is at Chicago County General hospital as a patient. He is awaiting a kidney that will prove to be a transplant match for him. Dr. Peter Benton, reprieved by Eriq La Salle, works in the hospital and goes to visit Dr. Carter during his wait.

A matching kidney does in fact become available at at the very Seattle hospital where Dr. Ross and Hathaway work. This leads to all four of these original cast members being reunited for a final farewell to the fifteen year old series.

If that’s not enough to peak your interest in the conclusion of this record-breaking, award-winning series, maybe I should mention the partial Clooney nudity that is thrown in for free at the end of the last episode.

Although it may seem like the end of an era, and, in fact, it is, but the fun won’t stop once you’ve seen the dramatic ending. It will just serve as an opportunity to watch all three hundred and some episodes from all over again from start to finish… or at least your choice favorites; sometimes shows are just better in syndication.

For the maximum in viewing pleasure, check out what DirecTV has to offer if you haven’t already. They will be able to provide more HD channels than you could get from other satellite provider and way more than cable providers. With DirecTV there is also the added benefit that their monthly bill is less than cable with better choices in packages to suit the whole family.

Can Television Confuse A Person?

October 8, 2008

Today you have to consider if television can confuse a person and that depends on what part of television is being talked about. Televisions alone have become technology smart and if you are not up on the latest technology it can be confusing; one thing that has not become confusing is what Direct TV offers. All the channels and the programs that provide entertainment, make viewers learn new things and even explain history in a way that it makes sense.

This is important today to have channels like Direct TV offers to keep you informed on things that can confuse a person. For example the person that watches only local television by now is confused about the candidates running for president because they can not get the total picture of what they stand for with local channels. This is something that is important and being confused is not a good thing with the election being close, plus there are all the commercials that talk good or bad about each candidate. What’s to believe if you are only watching the local channels with the tons of advertising that have different messages to keep things confusing.

The nice thing about having a Direct TV deal is that you can get the information you need to make a decision. Then leave all of it behind to watch movies, programs, sports and music instead of the political commercials. Then there is no confusion just an informed decision and entertaining programming with what Direct TV offers their subscribers.

There is TV and Then There Is DirecTV

July 30, 2008

There is a big difference when it comes to television programming, there is local television with two, three or four channels, there is cable television where there are a lot of channels but many that are not what you would watch and are included in the package.

Then there is satellite tv with Direct tv packages where there are choices what kind of channels you want to see and extra packages for programs like the NFL Sunday Ticket where you can see more football than you will on any other channels.

There is something else about television and that is the cost, with cable television the cost is higher than with satellite tv, there are Direct tv deals that fit into any budget and while local television is free remember there are two, three or four channels filled with infomercials most of the time. Then there is also the fact that local television will only be free until February and then you will have to purchase a box to watch your programs.

Then there is also the fact that DirecTV has more channels and programs in HD than cable television can offer and Direct tv is adding to this all the time. The truth is there are more than 90 channels with HD programming on satellite tv and there is no cable company that can match that now or anytime soon.

What Happens When English Is Not Your First Language?

July 11, 2008

What happens when English is not your first language and its time to watch television, well with cable providers there is little choice but to watch programming in one or two languages.

All that is different when it comes to satellite TV with a deal from DirecTv you can be watching satellite programming in the language that is your first language. Having a provider like Direct tv means that they have programming packages for languages so if your first language is Spanish there are programs, news and satellite tv soccer that sitting in the comfort of home you can watch along with all the special programs that you thought would not be possible to see. What a great way to relax with a special Direct tv deal in different languages and there are also programs in HD with Direct tv.

It’s just a matter of having the right provider and with a satellite tv provider like who has deals Direct tv is the right provider for families whose first language is not English.

When It’s Time For Sports It’s Time For DirecTV

July 10, 2008

Sports fans know there are few games on local channels and to go to the sports bar for every game they want to see isn’t possible, unless they work there. That means they have to find their sports fix another way and with Direct tv sports packages they know they are not only getting all the games they are getting all the extras.

There are extras like sports shows that will give them all the inside information on their favorite players, team and even information on the coaches.

The best of all is there is so many games transmitted in HD that it is like having a special seat at the game that lets you see all the action up close and clear like only HD can do.

The way to go for any sports fan other fans will tell you is with satellite tv and sports packages because it’s the best way to see all the different sports, like baseball, football and even racing. When it comes to the races only Direct tv has a deal that lets you not only see the action but it lets you see it from the cars, in the pits and the winners circle.

What Makes Satellite TV A Great Choice?

July 10, 2008

When it comes to watching television there are certain requirements that people have, some only want to watch new movies, some like old movies and then there is the person that wants to watch anything except for info-mercials.

Satellite Tv has what each of these people want to see and none of what they don’t want to see along with a lot of other programming. When a television is hooked up to a provider like Directv with packages to choose from that will fit anyone’s taste and there are the extra sports packages with football, baseball, soccer and racing.

The best part is this is the kind of programming that is on 7 days a week 24 hours a day so there is no waiting for the night of the week that the local channels might have a movie on or if you want to watch television after midnight there is something on instead of someone trying to sell you whatever it is they think that people will buy over the phone.

For people that own HD TV’s Direct tv is a must have because they have more HD channels than any other provider and way more than cable providers.

These are some of the reasons why satellite tv is a great choice and with DirecTV there is also the added benefit that their monthly bill is less than cable with better choices in packages.

July 2, 2008

In a new and innovative approach to television viewing DirecTV has recently began On Demand, this is where viewers will have the choice of watching over 4,000 different programs, movies, music and sports. These will all be available 24 hours a day seven days a week and the best part of this new way to see what you want when you want is free to DirecTV subscribers in Maryland.
While there are few requirements to be able have the advantage of this new On Demand DirecTV library of which many are in HD and others in standard formatting for On Demand viewers in Maryland. The first is the television viewer has to be a subscriber of DirecTV, which isn’t hard even when the viewer lives on the east coast there are DirecTV deals in Maryland. The other important factors that the subscriber needs is either a DirecTV Plus HD DVR receiver or else a R22 DVR receiver. One last thing that the Maryland viewer will need is a broadband connection, yes it leaves dial up users out of the 4,000-title library. The connection will need to be 750kbp, which means a DSL or cable connection.
This is perfect for the person that wants what they want to watch on television when they want to watch it and this is what Maryland DirecTV subscribers want.
